Office pranks help to clear some of the tedium out of the standard office routine, and there’s no more acceptable time for a good prank than on April Fool’s day. Here are a few great April Fool’s day pranks to try out in your office this year.
1. Broken Computer Screen – Log onto your coworker’s computer the night before April Fool’s Day (obviously, this only works if you have access to their computer and know their password). Minimize any windows in order to get a clear view of the Windows desktop and hit Ctrl + Print Screen. Open up MS Paint and hit Ctrl + V, then in the File menu, hit “Set As Background (Centered)”. Now, go back to the desktop, right click, and select View and uncheck Show Desktop Items. Now, your coworker’s desktop will look the same as it always did, but clicking on any of the icons won’t open up anything. Just be sure to let them know that it was an April Fool’s Day prank before they call tech support.
2. Broken Computer Mouse – If you don’t have file access to your coworker’s computer, you can still harmlessly prank it. If your coworker has an optical mouse, for instance, take a clear piece of tape and place it over the optical sensor on the bottom. This won’t disable the mouse, but it’ll make it move incredibly slow. The beauty of a good April Fool’s day prank is seeing your coworker try to figure it out, so grab a cup of coffee and watch them when they go to log onto their office computer, only to think that their mouse is broken in an incredibly distracting way.
3. Covering Office Equipment With Various Things – The most famous office pranks on the Internet, April Fool’s Day or otherwise, are pranks in which every inch of an office or desk is covered with something–aluminum foil, post it notes, cups with an inch of water in them, balloons, etc. See what you’ve got hanging around your office, and make sure nobody’s going to get real uptight about an April Fool’s day joke, and hit your victim’s desk when they leave for the day. If you’re lazy, or you don’t want to cause trouble, just cover something that they use a lot rather than their whole desk–a phone, coffee mug, or keyboard works nicely.
4. Alphabetize The Keyboard – Keyboard keys pry off pretty easy. Try taking off all of the alphabetical keys on your victim’s keyboard and do them a favor–put them in order. This is a great April Fool’s day prank for any office worker that hunts and pecks while typing.
