Don’t believe the hype, there is plenty of delicious vegetarian food in Buenos Aires. While Buenos Aires is famous worldwide for its delicious steaks, there are vegetarian food choices abound. There has been a recent influx of Chinese immigrants to Buenos Aires and this is great news for vegetarians. You are never too far from a Chinese restaurant in Buenos Aires and you can also visit the local Barrio de Chino, Chinatown.
Popular Chinese food options in Buenos Aires are the Chinese buffet vegetarian restaurants. The Chinese buffet vegetarian restaurant in my Buenos Aires neighborhood of Montserrat, is called Bodhi. Bodhi is one of several vegetarian Chinese buffet restaurants in Buenos Aires. Bodhi offers both a vegetarian Chinese all you can eat buffet or you can buy your Chinese vegetarian food by the kilo for takeout. (Chinese vegetarian buffet restaurant is closed on Monday’s).
The Bodhi Chinese vegetarian buffet restaurant in Montserrat is owned and operated by a family from Taiwan who has immigrated to Buenos Aires. They are friendly and they speak both Taiwanese and Spanish. This restaurant is open for lunch from, 10am-3:30pm. Bodhi Chinese vegetarian buffet restaurant in Montserrat offers a vast selection of both hot and cold vegetarian food, and desserts for your dining pleasure. The hot buffet offers a myriad of faux meat choices including a vegetarian blood sausage, which is my favorite. (Which is ironic because that is the meat choice that makes the most ill to think about) You will also find a variety of vegetarian Chinese stir fried vegetables, spring rolls, white and brown fried rice, lo mein and much more. Additionally you will find lentils, black beans, pizza and lasagna among other things.
The cold buffet is just as expansive at Bodhi Chinese buffet vegetarian restaurant. Help yourself to the delicious salad bar which offers among other things fresh lettuce, carrots, beets and sunflower seeds. Also featured at the cold buffet are a plethora of desserts including but definitely not limited to flan and spice cake.
