Father’s Day is nearly here, and with people watching their pennies, a great gift for fathers is a delicious meal.
Pepper Sirloin Steak
1 (2 ½ pound) sirloin steak, 1 ½ inch thick
½ cup butter
¼ cup minced onion
¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon dry mustard
½ teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
The first thing you want to do is cut the tops of the steak about half way through, making cuts one inch apart.
Next, in a small sauce pan, add butter, parsley, onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, garlic powder and mustard. Heat on low. Heat the butter mixture until all of the butter is melted, keeping a quarter of the butter mixture for later.
Next, placing your steak on the grill, brush on the butter mixture about every minute or so, turning over with each brushing. Grill for about 8 minutes total on each side.
When finished, place your steak onto a platter and pour remaining butter sauce over entire steak. Serve hot.
Cheesy Garlic Bread
I loaf Italian bread
½ cup butter
2 cloves garlic
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
½ cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
First preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Take your Italian bread loaf and cut it in half long ways. Next in a small bowl combine butter, garlic, parsley, and Parmesan cheese. Now brush both halves of bread with the butter mixture. When finished sprinkle the Mozzarella cheese on top and place in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes until cheese is melted and a little browned.
And now for the last part of the meal: Herbed Green Beans!
1 pound of green beans
2 teaspoons butter
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons grated lemon zest
1 tablespoon parsley
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
In a ten inch skillet bring ½ inch of water to a boil. Then add the green beans. Turn down to medium-low heat and simmer for about ten minutes, until tender. Then drain all of the water out.
Next heat the butter in the skillet. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and green beans. Cook and stir for two minutes.
When finished pour green beans into a bowl and add lemon zest and parsley.
Now you have your Father’s Day meal.
If you can, finish of this great meal with a dessert of your choice.
