Tonight’s American Idol was actually a bit touching for me. Seeing Allison Iraheta, once again performing Alone by Heart, was amazing. The girl can sing! And she’s only 16 years old! Of course, she made it through to the top 12! She looks almost too much like Kelly Clarkson, which might make her not stand out enough on her own, but she might have better chops than Clarkson (though I do like Clarkson). What an amazing voice!
Group two competitors that made it into the Top 12: Allison Iraheta, Kris Allen, and Adam Lambert . Last night’s competition showed Kris Allen singing Man In The Mirror, which is a Michael Jackson song. I like his style and spunk, and apparently so did America! He seems very grounded and appreciative, unlike some of the competitors that I watched last night argue with the judge’s assessment. Of course, all three Idols that made it through, performed the same song as yesterday. Adam Lambert, once again performed the Rolling Stones song Satisfaction. I think he’s going to make it far because he has that Pete Wentz look about him. He knows how to put his own spin on a song, and that is going to help further him through the competition.
Last season’s Idol Brooke White also performed her first single during the show, a song that she also co-wrote. Brooke White sang Hold Up and played piano. Not a bad performance, but could have been more exciting.
The Idols sent home included: Matt Breitzke (who should have listened to Simon), Jesse Langsley (who I expect to become a recording artist anyways), Matt Giraud, Jeanine (who obviously had the worst performance), Megan Joy Corkrey (who had a great voice), Mishavonna (who I think will be back), Kai, Jasmine (who I was hoping would do better than she did), and Nick (who was hilarious). Nick certainly gave an unforgettable performance, and at least he had the opportunity to shake it up a bit! He is a true perfromer and I imagine he will have some great career soon. He’d make a great magician!
I was sad to see Jesse and Megan Joy Corkrey go home, as they were both really good! I hope they get a second chance in next weeks Idol episodes.
Simon stated that next week a few people who were sent home, including some from tonight, would be back for a second chance. I hope they include Jesse Langsley and Megan Joy Corkrey back!
Congratulations to tonight’s Idol Winners: Allison Iraheta, Kris Allen, and Adam Lambert, who will be joining the other three from group one winners Alexis Grace, Danny, and Michael Sarver, all of whom are now in the Top 12.
