Anything is possible….with the Grand Ole Opry.
Last night on American Idol we really saw Finalist bring their A game. Not only did we have phenomenal song choices, but we watched as Finalist showed us why they are in fact, in the Finals of American Idol. Yes, we know they can sing that is the most basic of requirements to make your way in to final 11. But apart from that, you have to show that you can own the stage.
American Idol Season 8 Grand Ole Opry Theme night Top Performances
1. Matt Giraud
2. Anoop Desai
3. Kris Allen
4. Danny Gokey
Matt Giraud had a wow night. He is such the charmer, and really wowed the American Idol viewers. I was amazed at his ability to play the piano and really, really sing. Anoop is back. He may have had a bad performance last week, but he has found his rhythm and boy the guy can sing! Kris Allen is another charmer, and really sang like there was no tomorrow. Danny Gokey doesn’t seem to pick a bad song. He just sings, and sings well, and wows the crowd every time!
Let’s get right to last night’s show. The night began with Michael Sarver. His song choice was wrong, even though he had fun singing it, and the audience enjoyed him more than the song. Sad, cause I really like him, but not his best performance.
Allison Iraheta may be young at 16, but she has confidence, an amazing voice, and can just about sing anything. She really has a knack for picking the right song that matches her personality and who she is as a singer. Way to go Allison.
Next was Kris Allen who really had a wow moment. He took a chance with his song choice, but really showed America that he is here to win the Idol title. Loved his performance.
Lil’ Rounds sang an iffy sound, and looked uncomfortable throughout the song. The 1st part she struggled, and then really let her voice relax as she hit the big notes in the 2nd half. She tried to show American she could sing anything, but all last night showed was she is not a country singer.
Adam Lambert sang a strange song to me. The judges loved him; I just wasn’t as head over hills for his style. Simon didn’t understand it, Randy thought it was hot.
Scott MacIntyre picked a good song, unfortunately. He’s been one of my favorites, and I love his vocals. He just has an ability to ignite the crowd. He looked amazing at the piano, and really showed he can sing.
Alexis Grace has amazing vocals, even though parts of her song last night were pitchy. Simon thought he would forget her performance. It was just ok, kinda performance. I tried to remember what she sang, and couldn’t, so guess Simon was right on that one.
Danny Gokey just has the ability to wow the crowd with his singing. He is still in my picks for the final 6. He is just that good! He has shown that he will have a career, with the Idol title, or without it.
Anoop Desai came on strong last night. He had something to prove, and boy did he. I kept shaking my head thinking this guy can sing. Simon even took back his comment about thinking Anoop shouldn’t be in the finals.
Megan Joy looked amazing. For some reason, the judges just rave on her performances, which I didn’t get. I wasn’t over the top on her singing, it was just an ok performance but maybe the judges are hearing something I’m not.
