I decided that I needed to get a laptop computer. I have always used PCs but as I am increasingly getting into graphics, my research has led me to believe that I needed to shift over to the world of Mac.
I settled on the MacBook Air. I was able to find a retail store near me which allowed me to actually go look at the system.
One of the first things you notice about the MacBook Air, is its thin profile. The case itself is formed from a single sheet of aluminum, for a unibody construction. This also gives it strength, makes it light and very portable.
Something I found out that impressed me about the MacBook Air is the fact that you can choose a hard drive that is completely solid state. In other words there is no platter, no moving parts to break down or fail.
The processor available for the MacBook Air, is an Intel Core 2 Duo, Dual Core processor. This processor is designed to fit into the ultra thin dimensions. The processor is powerful however. Choices are 1.86 GHz, or 2.66 GHz.
You get a powerful graphics processor with the MacBook Air. Nvidia supplies the high speed graphics with its Geoforce 9400. Photos appear in iPhoto faster, games play faster, and transitions occur seamlessly. Movies play better as well.
The 13.5 inch Widescreen LED display on the 13.3 backlit display gives you full screen brightness as soon as you open the MacBook Air. LED display technology is also easier on the environment.
The battery is also very thin which goes along with the slimness of the overall design, and gives you five hours of wireless web access.
The MacBook Air Is very energy efficient, meeting the very stringent standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency, and the U.S. Department of Energy. Not only that, but the case is fully recyclable. Many PCs are not at all recyclable. Even the internal cables are PVC free.
The keyboard is fully backlit, which makes it easy to use in low light levels. The track pad (which is a way to replace a mouse on a laptop) on the MacBook Air has multi touch technology. This means you can use up to four fingers at a time to which allows you to pinch, swipe, or rotate to move an image, or advance through a photo album.
You can purchase the MacBook Air starting at $1499.99. You can go directly to an Apple Retail store, or make your purchase online.
