During the last six months my family has gone through a lot of changes. With the economy in the position it is in we have moved for better career choices and have downsized our living accommodations. We love where we live but we have a two bedroom apartment and our children now have to share a room. Still, this is not a problem. We solved the furniture issue by purchasing a Columbia Bunk Bed by Atlantic Furniture.
Let me begin by stating that there were many sites that offered the same bed but all with different price points. The style of this bed comes in a twin over twin, twin over full and full over full. www.Bunkbeds.net had the best price for the full over full with free shipping. The price difference was considerable and that was after ordering two extra drawers. Bunkbeds.net listed it would be shipped within 3-5 days. On the forth day the bed was shipped and three days later it arrived. The delivery driver brought it over the threshold which, by the way, is not always included in the delivery requirements for freight deliveries.
The bunk bed came in seven boxes but the reviews written on the product all stated the beds were extremely easy to put together. Upon opening the boxes the furniture revealed was lovely. It was antique mahogany in color and was a mission style bed with slats. Each piece of the bed was securely packaged so none of the pieces had chips or were broken.
The wood itself is a hard wood, unlike pine, so my concerns of it getting dings and scratches were relieved. My husband pulled out each piece and began to put the pieces together taking him nearly an hour. The task was not difficult but tedious with lots of screws and bolts. The support beams are actual real pieces and are connected together by cloth runners and a solid slat that runs down the middle. There are fourteen slats to support the weight of the child and the mattress. The top bunk holds up to 150lbs and is surrounded by rails. The ladder does not reach the floor because it is attached to both the bunk and the bottom bed, yet it is still low enough for young children to climb up.
It is sturdy and the pieces are very well made. I was skeptical when purchasing it because I have never ordered furniture online before. All in all, the delivery and purchase was a great investment and I would recommend the site and bed to anyone
