At church we are always told that God can use anybody. It doesn’t matter if you’re male or female, black or white, short or tall, fat or skinny. God can use anybody and everybody. If you need proof that God uses anybody then look no further than the Bible. The Bible is proof that God can use anybody.
Now is about the time when I would normally tell you to take out your Bible open to a passage and read a story. Presumably this story would prove the point I’m trying to make. I’m not going to do that. The Bible is proof that God can use anybody, even without opening it.
All you need to know in order for the Bible to be proof that God uses anybody is to know the authors of the Bible. I’m not talking about God. God is the true author of the Bible, but I mean the people that dictated the Bible for him. More than 40 people wrote the Bible and all of these people were different.
First let’s go over the different authors of the Bible:
Genesis through Deuteronomy – Moses
Joshua – Joshua
Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel – Samuel
1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, Isaiah – Isaiah
1 Kings, 2 Kings – Elijah

1 Peter, 2 Peter – Peter
Jude – Jude
Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon, Hebrews
If you were to go through each of these authors and dissect each one of them then you’ll find out that many of them are completely different. Each had a different occupation, each had different characteristics. Each one of these authors looked differently and lived differently.
Among these authors there was a king, several fisherman, musicians, poets, a priest, prophets, philosophers, farmers, teachers, shepherds and a tax collector. That’s about as eclectic as a group can get. If the Bible was written today then who knows who God would use. Maybe a clown from a circus, a mascot, a member of a boy band, a lawyer, a politician or mailman.
There was also different circumstances and different places that these authors wrote. Most authors had the freedom of their own home but one wrote from prison. Some of these authors wrote in a huge cities and others wrote in the wilderness. Some authors wrote during a peaceful time and others wrote during times of war.
Even their style of writing is different throughout the Bible. Some authors simply tell a story. Others simply write down what they saw. A few authors even wrote poems and songs.
It just goes to show you that there is no one type of person that can do God’s work and there is no one way to do it. All that matters is that God is behind the work.
