Imagine soft, supple, and flawless skin. For some women, it’s one of the biggest beauty and health goals. Many body lotions and creams, even very pricey ones, promise beautiful skin, but few succeed. One of the top body products is La Mer the Body Serum. This serum has become a staple in many beauty routines, especially after showering, and for good reason. To begin with, La Mer is one of the most world-renowned brands. They have a huge line of face and body products that promote and lead to beautiful skin. La Mer the Body Serum is one of the many products that are specially formulated for the body. Unlike regular lotions that just hydrate and moisturize the skin, the La Mer the Body Serum is made to help with problem areas on the body, especially places affected by rough patches or uneven pigmentation.
One of my major skin problems is that I have rough skin and keratosis pilaris (or chicken skin) on my upper arms. While it’s an arguably unnoticeable skin condition, it’s enough to make me self-conscious about wearing tank-tops or short-sleeved shirts. I’ve tried numerous remedies for this skin condition and all have failed me before. While browsing for a new product and having success with the La Mer brand before, I stumbled across the Body Serum. La Mer claims the Body Serum helps with discolorations, blotchiness, spider veins, and sun and age spots. Additionally, the Body Serum is all-natural, and contains algae and botanical extracts, which are safe and very healthy for skin application.
I decided to buy and test out the project. For $155, you’ll get 4.2-ounces of the La Mer Body Serum, which lasted me 6 months. The application process is fairly simple and relaxing too. After showing and using a gentle cleansing exfoliant, I toweled dried and put a quarter-sized amount of the serum in my palm. Using my fingertips, I rubbed in the serum on my arms, starting with my upper arms and working down. The serum has a very relaxing and natural smell. The consistency its between a liquid and a crème, but a bit thicker than most serums. It rubs in fairly easily too and only takes a few circular massaging motions to completely soak in. La Mer suggests using a mild body lotion after using the Body Serum. After the first use, I didn’t see a visual difference, but my skin felt a lot softer than if I just used lotion on it. However, after continued use I noticed my skin was getting a bit more clear as well as softer. After about a month of continued use, the Body Serum reached its maximum benefits.
I would rate this product a 3.5/5. It’s a good primer to any lotion and it’ll definitely help lock in the moisture of even the driest of skin. It does help clear up problem spots on the body as well. As for my skin condition, it only helped a small amount. I was happy with the product, even though it was very expensive, but due to the price, I most likely won’t purchase it again. If you have problems like age or sun spots, it may be a good option for you, but I suggest using a trial size first before investing in a full-size bottle for $155.
