Blemishes. Acne. Zits. No matter what you call it, it’s a common ailment that affects the majority of people, especially women. Numerous things including a bad diet, stress, or just very oily skin can trigger it. So what’s the answer?
Ole Henriksen has a great product specifically made for the control of acne: The Blemish Attack Daily Defense Gel. It’s a 1.7 ounce bottle with a concentrated amount of gel containing salicylic acid, a known substance that attacks acne. Salicylic acid allows the top layers of the skin to more readily peel. While that may sound painful, it’s actually a good thing. It will keep that layer of dead cells and dirt and debris from accumulating to the point where it clogs your pores. So how does Ole Henriksen’s Blemish Attack Daily Defense Gel live up to its claims?
It is suggested that you use this product every morning (hence the daily part) after normal cleansing and toning. So after my normal morning routine, I pulled my hair back and put one pump of the clear gel on my hand. I evenly applied the gel to my face and neck, going over my so-called “problem areas” (chin, checks, and lower forehead) twice. Upon immediate application, there is a slight burning sensation. It’s not too unbearable, but I had to remind myself that the active ingredient was salicylic acid.
Within a few minutes the gel had completely dried within any build-up. As a plus, It was easy to apply makeup and foundation on my face afterwards, which was something I was a bit worried about.
The first few days of using the gel, things appeared normal. Acne that I had when I began using the gel was almost gone or much less noticeable (it wasn’t red or swollen anymore). However, within a week or use, my skin was starting to peel. I was a bit alarmed by this, considering I woke up one morning and my skin was very flakey. I rushed to grab the box the bottle of gel came in and right on the back it said peeling would occur (this is obviously a result of the salicylic acid). The morning when I saw my skin peeling, I used a very gentle cleanser in order to wash the peeling skin away. After drying my face, I was utterly amazed. Underneath all that dried, flakey, dull skin was a luminous complexion, which looked refreshed and very natural. Not only that, but it seemed like all my problem areas were cleared up.
Overall, I think I’ve found my acne miracle product. I have to rate this 5/5 because it worked wonders for me. I’ve been searching for years looking for a product that would keep my occasional acne and oily skin at bay, and finally I found it.
This product retails for $45 in stores like Sephora and online at OleHenriksen.com. I was able to snag a bargain on this for $32 at eBay. I also found some very reasonable prices at Amazon. This tends to be the only downside the product. It’s a bit out of budget for average consumers, but I promise that it is a great investment and the 1.7 ounces will last for a long time!
