The eye area is one of the biggest skin and beauty concerns for many women. Whether you suffer from puffiness, wrinkles, dark circles, or a dull eye area, it’s something that can make you conscious about your face.
My main issue is that my eye is much darker than my normal skin tone due to sleep deprivation and stress. Having previous success with Hollywood-renowned Danish brand Ole Henriksen, I came across Ole Henriksen Ultimate Lift Eye Gel.
The product, which comes in a 1 ounce jar, contains all-natural ingredients which Ole Henriksen himself boasts is perfect for helping with eye problems. Such ingredients include aloe vera, calendula extract, cucumber essence, eyebright extract, and hyaluronic acid. Additionally, the product claims to be especially for women who are concerned with aging impacts around the eye area.
After using my normal cleanser and toner, I applied the blue transparent gel around my eye around, roughly about an inch under, above, and towards my temples. Upon applying, the product has a very soothing cooling affect and upon rubbing in the gel further, it turns into a warming soothing sensation. The product box claims that you will see instant results, which I didn’t see. My eye areas looked slightly slick from the gel, which does not dry, but it wasn’t a major concern since it is for nighttime use.
After about two weeks of regular use, my eye area looks significantly brighter and firmer than before. Ole Henriksen highly recommends faithful use, so I am still continuing to use the product. I like the results so far, and I’m hoping to have maximum results soon. Also, I’ve found that the product is very relaxing. The cooling and then warming effect creates a relaxing sensation, which can be helpful if you normally have trouble falling asleep like I do.
There are some significant downsides to the product though. For one, as previously stated, the gel does not dry. Instead, it leaves a very sticky feeling around the eye area, which can be particularly annoying, especially when going to sleep. Secondly, the price is another downside. One ounce is approximately $38, which can be way out of anyone’s budget. You don’t need to apply a lot to the eye area though, only about a small dot on your forefinger. Therefore, an ounce can go a long way. Finally, the smell of the product could put the average consumer off. Because it’s all-natural, it’s not injected with artificial scents or perfumes. It has a very natural smell to it, which is due the aloe and cucumber ingredients. Since it’s going to be on your eye area, if the smell bothers you, it’s not the right product for you.
Overall, I would rate this product 3 out of 5. I expected to see results as soon as applied it, but it took two weeks to see any sort of change. Additionally, the stickiness of the gel bothers me quite a bit, as well as the price. If I don’t see the maximum benefits by the end of using the entire one-ounce jar, I most likely will not buy the product again.
