The British Open TV schedule includes coverage on both ABC and TNT. The 2009 British Open TV schedule will begin on Thursday, July 16th with early morning coverage on TNT. Later in the week, the British Open TV schedule will lend itself to early morning coverage on ABC, allowing both networks to benefit from the wide-open British Open Field. The 2009 British Open TV coverage will span from Thursday, July 16th to Sunday, July 19th, and cover the entire 2009 British Open field of players as they try to take home the trophy.
The Open Championship will be taking place at Turnberry in 2009, with practice open on Tuesday for tee times, and the first round of the 2009 British Open getting started with Thursday tee times. Tickets are still available for gold fans looking to attend the 2009 British Open, but many have already arrived at surrounding hotels and venues in order to catch those first glimpses of the pros arriving. The 2009 British Open qualifying tournaments have all been completed, and the British Open field has been set; now it is all going to be addressed on the course by some of the best golfers in the world.
Tiger Woods, one of the early favorites to possibly win the British Open has been paired with Ryo Ishikawa and Lee Westwood for the first two rounds of the tournament. Ryo Ishikawa is a teen sensation out of Japan that is exciting to watch, and who becomes a very nice pairing with Woods. Westwood is one of the best golfers in Britain, and sets up the most anticipated threesome on the golf course this week. They start their first round of the 2009 British Open at 9:09 A.M. which equates to about 4:09 A.M. back here in the Eastern states. They start a little later on Friday, with a tee time of 2:20 P.M. (9:20 A.M. EST). Either way, Americans are going to have to get up pretty early if they want to see Woods play in the 2009 British Open.
The most exciting part of the 2009 British Open, is that the tournament brings back a two-time defending champion, who is looking to create some history of his own with a possible third straight British Open title. Padraig Harrington won the British Open in both 2007 and 2008, and is of course a strong favorite to possibly repeat again in 2009. He didn’t have to deal with Tiger Woods last year (who was out with injury), but that doesn’t make his accomplishment any less memorable. Now Harrington joins Woods, Lee Westwood and a great British Open field that are all sure to put on a great showing at the 2009 British Open.
