Cafe do Brasil serves South American food. You will have to read the rest of this review to find out why it’s my favorite Oklahoma City restaurant.
Cafe do Brasil: Oklahoma City Restaurant Review
The first you notice as you look for parking, is Cafe do Brasil is surrounded by cars. But, that’s not the only thing you notice. You can feel the cheerful atmosphere before even entering this Oklahoma City restaurant.
Once inside, everyone is happy and talking even if there is only room to squeeze past each other. It has high ceilings, happy colors, and beautiful artwork. Ana, the owner, makes rounds. Live music is on week-ends and nights with the performer interacting with diners. The dining area is a swirl of happy activity.
Once seated, conversations are so animated, I usually ask my server what is recommended. Anything on the exotic food menu is tasty and it’s so much fun, you don’t want to take time to read. My servers seem to rotate but they are usually interesting college students. It’s not unusual for two tables of diners to converse with each other and the server even if we don’t know each other.
The last time I was at Cafe do Brasil, was as a lunch restaurant which is available Tuesday through Friday. I ordered Xin-Xin. This is chicken and shrimp cooked in palm oil, coconut milk, cashews, peanut paste, dry shrimp and fresh herbs. It is served over rice with vinaigrette and farofa. The order includes homemade muffins or baked cheese bread.
The spices, consistency and melt-in-your mouth meat make Xin-Xin one of my favorite dishes….anywhere. And I also always have at least one Cafezinho which is a shot of Brazilian coffee. It is strong so one shot is enough unless I want to let my hair down. Then I’ll ask the bakery for one of their famous cheese biscuits to go with the coffee.
Brunch is exquisite and the dressier, dinner atmosphere features a Bossa Nova Bar, rooftop patio that overlooks the skyline and live jazz music. Do I even need to say 10+ for food, atmosphere and staff for this Oklahoma City restaurant?
