Taking a vacation to Minnesota, you need to look at the town of Chisholm. Chisholm is a great town to visit if you are looking to take a trip with the whole family because there are things you can see and do to keep the interest of the entire family. Chisholm became a town in 1901. In 1908 the town was completely devastated by a fire that wiped out the entire town. In a years time the town was completely rebuilt and today the town is thriving and full of life. There are a lot of things to do in this town from picnicking to visiting the mining heritage of the north. You can get lost in all of the entertainment and all of the unique ethnic foods during these festivals.
Ironworld, USA is a living tribute to the people that worked on the iron range and is a celebration of their ethnic heritage and it lives right in the town of Chisholm. This is a theme park that is open to all who come and visit this great town. Ironworld brings history alive because you can touch and work with the historical exhibits, but you can do a lot more that just play with the exhibits. There is a variety of things you can do such as dance to the music and try all of the specialty foods that are made for this festival. You can take a trolley ride and learn about the early settlers or you can go to the 1600 seat amphitheater to see the entertainment which is done by top performers.
If you would like to know more about how the mining and the miners worked and lived you can go to the Minnesota Museum of Mining. You can learn about everything that you want to know about the mining industry and the building is not hard to find because it is right down town on main street in Chisholm. You can see all of the things that were used on the Mesabi Range even a 1910 Atlantic steam shovel.
If mining is not something you are interested to stop and see, then how about the classic car museum. If you are into the classic cars of old then this place has to be on your list to stop in and see. They have 45 cars in the museum and the collection is growing every year. All of the cars are on display and their collection includes a 1924 star. This model was only built for a few years and its rarity is through the roof. They also have a 1935 ford rumble seat coupe on display.
