Country Stars that Should Be in the Grand Ole Opry

by prawn tail

Country lives! Not that there was ever any doubt… And thanks to the Grand Ole Opry it’s stronger than ever! For fans of country music, Tennessee is a place of pride. Yet, GOO isn’t perfect. There are several singers that could make the experience so much more enjoyable if they became members. Who are some of these individuals?

1. Alabama.

This Grammy-Award winning country band would have fit right in on the members list. It’s a shame we never got the chance to hear “You’ve Got The Touch”, “Face To Face”, or “Jukebox In My Mind”.

2. Asleep At The Wheel.

Like ‘Alabama’, ‘Asleep At The Wheel’ has won multiple Grammy Awards. With great songs like- “Don’t Ask Me Why”, “Let’s Face Up”, “Dancing With Who Brung You”, or “House of Blue Lights”, they’d do a fantastic job. Hopefully Ray and David will consider it.

3. Faith Hill.

They may have Diamond Rio, but they don’t have Faith Hill. Will we ever hear “If My Heart Had Wings”, “Just To Hear You Say That You Love Me”, or “This Kiss”?

4. Lonestar.

What a cool name for band. I know that’s been beaten to death, but you still have to admire it. With the likes of “You Walked In”, “Tell Her”, and “Not a Day Goes By”- you’d think the GOO would have a home for them.

5. Little Big Town

Do I need to say anything more than “Boondocks” and “Bring It On Home”? Fans would love to hear them at GOO! I still remember when a friend of mine introduced me to them through ‘Boondocks’.

6. Clay Walker.

Clay came out strong with “What’s It To You” and “Live Until I Die”. Wouldn’t he make a great member? His latest efforts have been charity events to combat ‘multiple sclerosis’ since he was diagnosed with it in ’96.

7. Eric Church.

Clint Black might be among the favorite’s for GOO, but Eric Church tops him. Just look at (or listen to) “How ’bout You” and “Guys Like Me”!

8. Rascal Flatts.

“Bless the Broken Road”, “Bob That Head”, and “Feels Like Today” are resume enough for this band to become members of GOO.

9. Luke Bryan.

This recent riser to country fame deserves a membership thanks to “Country Man” and “All My Friends Say”. This Georgia boy would attract a whole following of new generation country fans.

10. Confederate Railroad.

If can ignore the appeal of “When He Was My Age” or “Daddy Never Was a Cadillac Kind”- then you are stronger than I. This band would do wonders at GOO and their fans would appreciate it.
