When you are hosting a 4th of July party, these do it yourself party favors will provide your guests with something to take home that is both memorable and useful, instead of one of those party favors that gets tossed in a closet (or the trash) and forgotten forever. The below crafty ideas can all be made inexpensively out of supplies from your local craft store (or for some of them, even things you already have on hand) without a huge investment of time on your part.
DIY 4th of July Party Favor: Potted Plants
These potted plants will be a great gift for your party’s guests to take home, and once the pots are irrelevant, they can plant the contents outside if they wish! For this party favor, you will need to go to any garden store, or even supermarket, and buy a bunch of small plants (those ones that come in plastic containers with multiple plants) and some potting soil. You can get annual flowers, tomato seedlings, herbs, or anything else that you think they would enjoy. Then go to the craft store and get small pots – either plastic, or metal buckets, or clay. You will also need ribbon in red, white, and blue, and perhaps paint if you want to add a creative touch to the pots. Take it all home and decorate the pots as you wish with paint and ribbons. Then pot one plant in each one, and you can even tie ribbons on the plant if you wish to make it look even more festive.
DIY 4th of July Party Favor: Decorative Jars of Stones
The supplies you will need for this crafty do it yourself party favor can all be gotten at a craft store: glass jars or bowls or vases of varying shapes and sizes, colored stones (whether rocks or glass beads) in patriotic colors, and optional decorative bamboo stems or something like that. Then you can assemble the gifts by arranging an assortment of the colored stones in each of the glass containers, and then sticking in any decorative bamboo stems or other stems (or even small flags) into the stones. This can be used either as a decoration in a bathroom, or as a fancy pencil or pen holder on a desk, as it is very good at holding up anything placed into it.
DIY 4th of July Party Favor: Festive Candy Bags
Everybody loves candy, so one last party favor is a candy bag filled with red, white, and blue candy. Buy some small clear cellophane bags and red/white/blue ribbon to tie them off, and a variety of candy in holiday colors. Consider jelly beans, different kinds of Hershey’s kisses, blue (or traditional red) licorice, and anything else you find that looks good! Then put an assortment of mixed colors and candies in each bag and tie them off with your 4th of July ribbon!
