Hometown spots are places that we like to go for various reasons. In most cases, they are places like restaurants and bars. However, many times they are so popular, that you can’t get in. We also have a tendency not to tell others about them because we want to keep a good thing for ourselves.
Hometown spots can be places that are family oriented or they can just be a special spot for us as an individual. These places are special to us. They are places where our friends hang out, where we can get our favorite food, drink, or entertainment.
In the broad scope of things, we may have several of these places. Each place fulfills a particular need. It might be an amusement park, museum, library, opera or music house, zoo, and even a sports franchise. These are mainly family oriented places. We enjoy sharing these places with our family members. We enjoy watching them have fun.
Then we have adult oriented hometown spots. These are places from a bar and grill to an elegant restaurant that oozes with class. These are places we go alone or take our spouse with us. The children get left at home.
Sometimes our favorite hometown spots are located in a broad area. Places like Beale Street in Memphis or Lacledes Landing in St. Louis has many places to choose from. So we just find a place, as we walk through and spend some time. It is easy to do this when the weather permits. However, in the winter time, we usually narrow our choices to one particular spot.
Besides basing our favorite spot because of family or adult reasons, we might even narrow it down for specific reasons. If we want to entertain a guest, we may take them there because we want to impress them. We want our guests to enjoy themselves.
We may want to find a special place so that we can equally balance work and life. We want to get some important things done related to work. However, we feel that we can have a good time at the same time. Places like this could be a country club. You get work accomplished over a game of golf. You may not even play. Just the suggestion of a place, of fun, can have an impact on the work that you need to get done.
As our careers fall behind us and we consider retiring, many of us start looking for a special place to live out our days. In many cases, hometown spots play a big place in making this decision. We may look for a place that has beauty and great places to hang out. Estes Park, Colorado could be a place like that.
Many of us have a favorite hometown spot. However, we are always on the search for a better place. Until we find that particular place, we still have that one particular place that stands out.
Toby Keith probably explains it best in his video, “I like this bar.”. He hits on many small reasons why he likes this one particular bar. Everyone there seems to enjoy for the same reasons. So I ask you. Where is your favorite hometown spot?
