Spring is in the air and that means it’s time to celebrate Easter with your family. The following Easter events are happening in the Philadelphia and South Jersey region this spring.
Easter Egghunt Hayrides at Johnson’s Corner Farm in Medford, NJ. Easter egghunt hayrides are a non-competitive, fun experience for all. The hayride drops everyone off at a field for the thrill of playing hopping games and hunting for five colorful Easter eggs each. Upon return from the field, little ones will be greeted by the Easter bunny and be given the opportunity to meet with the bunny, take pictures, and receive a candy bag. Cost is $9 per egg hunter, $2.95 per non-egg hunting rider. Easter egghunt hayrides begin on March 28th and run through April 11th. Tyler Arboretum’s Crafty Kids: Natural Egg Dyeing class will be held on Saturday, Apr 4th from 1:30-3:30pm.
In this hands-on class, kids will color six eggs with dyes made from natural materials, then decorate them with silhouettes of leaves and flowers. The program includes a short outdoor walk to search for signs of spring. Crafty kid programs are for children ages 8 to 12. Adults are welcome to accompany children; fee is for the child only. $8 fee for members. $10 fee for non-members. Pre-registration required. The American Swedish Museum’s Annual Easter Celebration workshop will be held on April 5th from 2-4pm. Children can dress up in old clothes to depict Easter witches and warlocks (a tradition in Sweden) and have their faces painted. Families can spend time together crafting traditional Easter decorations (chicks, black cats, and påskris) to take home. An Easter egg hunt on the museum grounds is included, weather permitting. Celebrate the joy of the Easter season with Palm Sunday Music for Organ, Brass and Choir at First Presbyterian Church in Moorestown, NJ on Sunday, April 5th at 7:30pm. This concert is part of the Special Musical Events Series at First Presbyterian Church. A Good Friday Choral Concert will be held at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia on Friday April 10th at 7:30pm. “A Mendelssohn Bicentennial” will celebrate the 200th anniversary of his birth. Featured works will include the Violin Concerto, Psalm 42, Hebrides Overture, and two short cantatas. Featured performers are Celeste Golden – Violin, Rita McKinley Pride – Soprano, Steven Condy – Baritone, Tenth Church Choir Tenth Chamber Players, Paul S. Jones – Conductor. Bunny Hop at the Philadelphia Zoo will be held on Saturday, April 11th and Sunday, April 12th from 11am to 3pm. The Philadelphia Zoo’s annual Easter event includes egg hunts, storytelling, games and a visit from the Easter Bunny. The event is free with paid admission or membership to the zoo; general admission tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for children 2-11 (children under 2 are free). Parking is $12 for non-members.
