In my opinion there is nothing better than a good book, and during the summer time when the weather is hot and you want to just relax or lay out in the sun, a good book is a great addition to add. Here is a list of five romance novels to consider this summer!
Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon is my first choice. Here you are introduced into the Dark Hunter world. A humble accountant Amanda is thrust into a new life by meeting the handsome Kyrian. Their attraction for each other goes against both their life choices yet they soon learn there are some things you cannot fight, and that even though sacrifices might have to be made, it’s well worth it in the end. This is the first book of a whole Dark Hunter series, my all-time favorite books, and if you enjoy romance with a paranormal twist, these books are for you. You can purchase them at just about any book store or Walmart. Used copies can be found at Amazon.com or EBAY.
Vicki Petterssons’ The Scent of Shadows is my next choice. This offers a more bittersweet paranormal experience. More action and guts, you meet Joanna Archer in the city of Las Vegas. After a bitter loss she embarks on a new life and identity with some sad goodbyes, but a chance at revenge for the horrible things that have happened to her. Vicki Petterssons’ style of writing grabs you from the beginning and keeps you interested till the end. This is also another series of books with a paranormal twist. You can find them at Walden Books, and used copies at Amazon.com and EBAY.
With paranormal romances being the new “IT” in books, you should also check out Jeaniene Frosts’ Halfway to the Grave . Here you meet half-vampire Catherine who is on a hunt against vampires. On this way she meets “Bones” who gives her a chance to help him. At first she hates him, but she soon learns that what she thought she knew was wrong, and that there is more to some of the vampires than meets the eye. Frosts’ characters are cute and witty, and you fall in love with Bones and his style. There are more books to this series, definitely worth looking into! You can find these at most book stores, and used copies are available at Amazon.com and EBAY.
If you are into a more traditional romance, be sure to check out Gentle Rogue by Johanna Lindsey. Lindsey has been writing romance for years, and her characters always never fail to “hook” you into the book. In this book, you meet the innocent Georgina Anderson trying to make it home to America. She disguises herself as a cabin boy, but does not fool the ex-pirate James Mallory. Lindsey has written lots of books, and has made a whole “Mallory” series that are exceptional. Make sure to check out the other books! You can find her books at any Walmart, Walden Books or used copies at EBAY or Amazon.com.
Lastly, if you haven’t already been caught up in the Twilight storm, you might want to check out what you’ve been missing. Stephanie Meyer may have originally written the books for teens, but she captures the hearts of young and old in her Twilight series. Twilight opens up with an innocent, vulnerable “Bella” who chooses to move away to live with her father so that her mom can travel with her new husband. In her life she meets some interesting characters including the charming “Jacob” an American Indian with something very special about him and she meets the untouchable “Edward”. Meyer writes in a way that leaves you aching for the same sweet romance offered in the book, and makes the characters so likable, you’ll be re-reading this book over and over. You can find it at Barnes and Noble, WaldenBooks, and used at EBAY and Amazon.com.
