Recently, my boyfriend and I went searching for a laptop computer to replace an older model we had. Being in college, we’re on a strict budget, and like almost anyone else looking to buy a laptop in this economy, we needed a computer which would give us the best performance for under $1,000. After several months of research, we were able to find the top five laptop computers that you can actually afford.
1. Dell Inspiron 1318

Information: This laptop is lightweight and offers a sleek look with a dark blue screen, making it appealing to the eye. In terms of hardware and performance, this laptop is fast and features an Intel Pentium Dual Core T2390, 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz, and a 160GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM), Microsoft Vista Home Premium, a built-in 2.0 MP Web cam, and other useful programs, such as McAfee Security Center, which is a pretty great deal for a laptop at this price. We have owned this laptop for three months and have been complete satisfied with it’s performance.
2. Acer Aspire T3400

This laptop is pretty basic, but is great for a first-time buyer, student, or for recreational use. Many college students currently use this model because of it’s affordability and mobility.
3. Toshiba Satellite Laptop 585

Information: This laptop is the most simple of the five listed in this article, but that doesn’t make it a poor performing computer. The Toshiba 585 includes an Intel® Celeron® processor, 585Multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive with double-layer support, and a Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic Edition operating system. This computer is great for storing family photos and videos and performing simple tasks such as browsing the internet, using e-mail, and working on Microsoft documents.
