Earth Day 2009, what Earth Day crafts can your child create? Here are three great Earth Day crafts for kids.
Rice Krispies Earth Balls
Supplies needed:3 tablespoons of butter or margarine, 1-10 ounce package of regular size marshmallows, then 6 cups of Rice Krispies then 1 tablespoon of green and another of blue sprinkles.
In large saucepan melt butter on low heat and add marshmallows then stir. Remove from heat when completely melted. Place the Rice Krispies into the pan, stir until even in coat. Evenly scoop out some and form a sphere shape. This is when you use green and blue sprinkles. Put a teaspoon of green sprinkles into one bowl, a tablespoon of blue in another. Take a Rice Krispies ball and roll one side in the green sprinkles, the other into the blue sprinkles. Place it upon a cookie sheet. After completing the appropriate amount, cook at 300 degrees for five minutes. The sprinkles will melt onto the Rice Krispies balls appearing like mini-Earths. One of the best Earth Day tasty crafts for kids.
Creating Green & Blue Blankets
Supplies needed: One container of green durable safe fabric glue, another container of blue durable safe fabric glue, one smooth blanket, newspaper, a damp rag to wipe with, and two long pans that your feet can fit into.
Place the blanket onto the floor above the newspaper. Then pour the green paint into a pan. Place one foot the pan and step onto the blanket and lightly press down hard, lifting with ease. Once you have covered where you wish to complete, allow to dry for 2 hours. Then continue with the blue feet. Allow that to dry as well. I have tried this Earth Day craft with kids, and it always was a warm memory.
Creating Earth Day Cards
Supplies needed: White construction paper, green markers, blue markers, one pencil, scissors, one cup, and one three-foot green ribbon.
Fold the white construction paper in half, then again. Have the cover face you, whatever side you wish that to be. Draw a circle with the pencil by using the round sphere of the cup. Color the inside anyway you want to with the blue and green markers. Write the words Happy Earth Day, Good Earth Day on the front page, or write nothing at all. Place a nice Earth Day greeting inside then sign. Place the green ribbon inside of the card and tie in a bow after wrapping the ribbon around the card once. Cut the excess. This is a fun and easy Earth Day craft for kids to create.
