Pier Park has continued to grow and thrive as Panama City Beach’s newest hot spot for family, food, shopping, and fun. Recently Guy Harvey’s Island Grill at Pier Park in Panama City finally opened for business.
Guy Harvey’s Island Grill is inspired and designed by Guy Harvey, a renowned marine wildlife artist, angler, diver, explorer, scientist, and conservationist. This means two things for diners. One, you are treated to décor highlighted by Guy Harvey’s marine wildlife artwork. Secondly, conservationists will feel at ease. Guy Harvey’s does not serve species that have been overfished, including swordfish, grouper, any species of billfish, or shark. The Panama City Beach restaurant does not serve these species in order to make a contribution to ensure the long term sustainability of these fish.
The restaurant is among the more spacious seafood restaurants in Panama City. There are three outdoor dining areas (one is not yet complete), indoor dining, and bar dining. We chose to sit outside facing the main street through Pier Park. This also gave us a view of the Gulf and the new county pier. It was a breezy afternoon, but the sun was hot enough to keep us warm and comfortable.
Service was fast and friendly, neither of which I have come to expect because of the sheer numbers of diners in Panama City Beach in the spring or summer.
Guy Harvey’s menu items include a variety of appetizers such as Calamari, Key West Grilled Quesadilla, Cheesy Garlic Bread and more. We weren’t up for an appetizer. We dove into the entrees.
One friend had a pound of steamed Alaskan Snow Crab legs. The jumbo steaming crab legs easily weighed more than a pound. I didn’t even have to ask to see that the crab legs were succulent and meaty. The way they were devoured confirmed that they were tasty, as well. For a pound of Alaskan Snow Crab legs in Panama City Beach the price tag of $19.99 was quite reasonable. Most Panama City Beach restaurants either sell them at market price, or well above $20.
One of our diners went with an Island Salad, the Key West BBQ Chicken Salad. Mixed greens were served up with fried chicken tossed in a spicy BBQ sauce. Roasted corn, black beans, cucumbers, and tomatoes come with the salad. They are served beautifully grouped around the edge of the dish allowing diners to mix and eat the salad as they please. Guy Harvey’s Key West BBQ Chicken Salad is a healthy portion topped off with fried onion strings. I was told it was excellent. The chicken had a sweet, smoky taste with a touch of spice for flavor. The Key West BBQ Salad is $12.99 and comes with BBQ chipotle ranch dressing.
I’m a fan of Mahi mahi and Guy Harvey’s at Panama City Beach served up some of the best Mahi mahi I have ever tasted. Island style Mahi Mahi was served grilled in a light sauce of banana beurre blanc. The taste of the sauce was complementary, not at all overpowering. The Mahi mahi was thick and tender. It was served with grilled banana and steamed vegetables including zucchini, squash, and green beans. This was my favorite meal at the beach and reasonably priced at $21.99.
The service and food at Guy Harvey’s at Pier Park, Panama City Beach, Florida gets five stars. Everything was excellent.
When you plan your Panama City Beach itinerary include Guy Harvey’s restaurant. You’ll love the food, service, and beautiful tropical artwork at Guy Harvey’s.
