International – Hot News Quickies
Looks like the situation in North Korea could escalate. North Korea launched a tirade Wednesday against world powers threatening to punish it for conducting its second nuclear test. North Korea says it is not afraid of sanctions. South Korea’s decision to join an operation to prevent the spread of weapons has been taken as a declaration of war. North Korea will respond with military action if the South tries to stop or search its ships. They stated they have one more missile test planned. North Korea is basically saying they could care less, and they will do whatever they please and it could lead to war. They have lived under sanctions so long that they could care less; those words mean nothing to them.
Where will this lead? What role will we play?
Financial -Washington, DC – Hot News Quickies
A group of economists stated that the recession will end this year. They are not saying that ‘things will be back to normal’. The road ahead will be bumpy and they see the third quarter as the turn-around time. Unemployment is still predicted to rise even when the turn-around hits. We are looking for any signs of improvement and baby steps will add up eventually.
A Fun Financial Fact – Hot News Quickies
There is a better way to determine if the economy has turned around. We all know that women buy undies for their husbands/boyfriends. Men, take a look in your undies drawer…anything new in there or do you still see faded, torn and tattered looking briefs? Some survey, some where, by some group with nothing better to do says that new underwear is low on the priority list during economic troubles. If the economy doesn’t change soon does that mean lots of men may be caught without something between them and their jeans? There is also a hemline issue – it seems womens’ hemlines get longer during a recession as a show of modesty. Interesting.
