Texts are a great way to flirt because they are quick, informal, and have a spontaneous nature to them. Texting is perfect for flirtations. It’s easier to have courage because you’re not face to face, and so it’s not embarrassing. Also, it’s less imposing than calling someone, and far less formal than an actual letter or even an email. Texting is perfect for flirting whether you are interested in someone (and not sure whether they like you back), or just want to let your partner know that you’re thinking of them (and make sure that they’re thinking of you too).
So how do you do it?
First of all, text messages are meant to be short and informal. Don’t try to write anything too long or overly serious as it will just seem out of place (if you want to do that, write a love letter instead of a text). Texts are just short notes, so try to keep it to a few lines.
You can send very simple short messages like: “thinking of you”, “wish you were here”, “love you”, etc. These are good if you’re sending them a text at a time when you know that they’ll be busy and not have time to respond. For example, if they have a busy day planned at work, a short text like this will make them smile without getting in the way of their responsibilities.
Texts are also an effective time to be a tease. Tell them what you would do if they were with them, or what you’re looking forward to doing with (or to) them later on. Be specific. If you say you want to kiss them, specify where. Offer to give them a massage when they get home from work. Use your imagination to write something that will make them desperate to be with you again.
If you’re texting someone that you’re not romantic with (yet), then you can still use it to flirt. You can ask them out without seeming to keen; text and tell them where you are and ask them to join you, ask them to stop by later, etc. You can also text people after a date/hanging out to tell them that you had a nice time. This doesn’t seem as overbearing as calling straight away, but let’s them know that you could be interested. Even if you’re in a relationship, you can still text and tell them what a good time you had. Everyone likes to feel appreciated, no matter how long you’ve been together.
Texts can also be good for flirting if you use your surroundings, what’s happening around you, etc. Tell them if you see something that they would like, or if you’re doing something that they would enjoy.
If you want to flirt with someone and don’t have the courage to do it in person, or if you just want to remind your partner that you’re thinking of them, then use text messages to flirt.
