Cleaning away hard to reach spider webs around your house.
Pick any corner near the ceiling in any room in your home. Chances are that you’ll find some cobwebs ,spider webs, and dust gathered in that corner.
If you ceilings are high and hard to reach, these ideas will help you reach those cobwebs and clean them away quickly and easily. Try them all out to see which works best in your home.
Get a broom.
If you have a long enough broom you can stand there and simply hold the broom up until it touches the corner. Move it back and forth gently and the bristles of the broom will catch the dust and webs.
Make your own cobweb clearing stick.
You can take a long stick or pole and wrap a rag or cloth around one end. Fasten the rag to the stick or pole by wrapping some duct tape around it. For easier removal after cleaning, use rubber bands to attach the rag or cloth to one end of the stick.
Hold up your homemade web remover and do the same thing you’d do with the broom. For an even cleaner ceiling corner, dampen the cloth or rag with warm water before attaching it. You’ll remove even more grime, dust, and dirt.
Use your vacuum.
If your vacuum cleaner has a long hose and various attachments you can suck away cobwebs from hard to reach areas such as ceiling corners. Be sure you keep the actual vacuum cleaner on a flat surface, don’t put it on the stairs while trying to reach the ceiling, it could be damaged if it falls.
Try out various attachments to see which ones work the best. Stay away from the brush attachments as the webs and dust may get caught in the brush part, leaving you to clean out the brush attachment afterwards.
Get on a ladder.
If you have a large enough floor area under the corners, get a ladder and carefully climb up high enough to reach the ceiling corner. You can either use a handheld rag or something such as a Swiffer duster to clear away the cobwebs in seconds.
Be sure not to go above the top step and always be aware of your balance and surroundings. Don’t try to lean over the top or side of the ladder to reach the corners.
Always get down slowly and move the ladder to safely reach the next corner or hard to reach area.
Try any or all of these cleaning tips to remove dust and cobwebs from the corner areas of your ceilings. Use a dampened cloth to help remove build up in rooms that contain fireplaces to clean both the smoke marks and remove cobwebs, a two in one job.
