Email provides a unique forum for writing to your partner. It’s perfect for people who are on the computer a lot, including students and most office employees or people who work from home. Writing them an email is a great and unobtrusive way to send them a quick message to let them know that you’re thinking about them and brighten up their day.
Emails can take advantage of the internet. If you’re writing them an email, you can include links to other sites. Invite them to go out to eat with you or to go see a film or go to a museum (or any other activity), and include the link to it so that they can look it up for themselves. Or if you’re planning a trip at some point, find links for romantic hotels or travel destinations and email the link and tell them to imagine the two of you there. You can even just look up things for fun and email them to ask what they think.
You can also attach photos to your email (but remember where they will be opening them-I’d suggest nothing too risqué if they check their email in a busy office); try attaching a picture of the two of you together, maybe from a holiday or just associated with a good memory. Or you could send them e-cards (they’re usually pretty cheesy, but can be good fun).
Emails are a good way to communicate when your boy/girlfriend, partner, spouse is at work because they can’t always accept personal calls or check text messages, but emails can be checked (and answered) discretely at their convenience. Because emails can be informal, you can write to them more like you would talk. Even just a few lines telling them that you are thinking of them will help to brighten up their day.
If you want to write a love note, then keep it honest and relatively short and to the point. If you want to write a really long, extremely personal, poetic love letter, than I recommend doing it with a pen and paper. For emails, it’s sufficient just to write brief messages telling them that you love them and hope that they’re having a good day. You can tell them that you’re looking forward to them coming home/your date on Friday/etc., or thank them for your last date/cooking you dinner the night before/etc. Of (if you know that they check their email where no one else can read it) you can send more flirtatious or sexy email messages (guaranteed to get their mind off of work and their thoughts on you).
Most of all, just remember to be yourself and speak honestly. If something feels awkward to you, don’t write it. Just think about your loved one and send them a note to let them know how you feel.
