Jon Gosselin, TV dad on TLC’s highest rated show, Jon and Kate plus Eight, was caught on film this week leaving the Legends Lounge, near the Gosselins’ new sprawling estate in Wernersville, Pennsylvania, with an unnamed woman. He was reportedly intoxicated, and she was driving his recently purchased Nissan Nismo, with him in the passenger seat, sans wedding ring.
Jon Gosselin has issued a statement indicating that he and the woman are just friends. One wonders how many married fathers of eight children spend their time out at bars without their wedding bands and leave with a woman that isn’t their wife. Jon may claim that it’s innocent. It was only weeks ago that Jon was reportedly canoodling with college co-eds and playing beer pong. He claimed that incident was innocent as well, and followed up with comments on the season finale of “Jon and Kate plus Eight” that he was having a hard time adjusting to life in the spotlight.
Where was Kate during this recent indiscretion? Across the country in Washington State, at a book signing for her newest book, “Eight Little Faces.” Kate’s appearance schedule forces her to travel most weekends, and sometimes during the week. Although Jon, and the kids, may prefer it that way, since Kate Gosselin is far from Mrs. Cleaver. Between the almost constant put downs and “love taps” to her husband, Jon, to digs at her sons (“Boys are gross,” Kate has said on more than one occasion), to the admitted favoritism of one sextuplet in particular, Hannah, it seems it would be better for all involved if Kate was home less often.
Many agree that Jon was pushed to his breaking point. Regular viewers of the show have seen firsthand how Kate seems to look for ways to pick on Jon, for everything from his weight to his breathing. Lately, it appears that Kate isn’t happy at all, and yet, as she mentioned on the season finale, she wants to continue doing the show, despite Jon’s objections.
With Kate off signing books, and Jon hanging out at seedy bars, who is watching the kids? Kate commented on a recent episode of their show that they do not, and never will, have a nanny. Yet the viewers have noticed recently that , and since Jon is reportedly regularly out on the town in the evenings, and Kate travels extensively, it’s becoming more and more clear that if their help isn’t called “Nanny,” that doesn’t mean she isn’t one.
Has it all been too much, too soon for Jon and Kate? From the couple that went from praying for change to appear from the couch cushions to pay bills, to the couple that worked (Jon during the week, and Kate sometimes working double shifts as a nurse on the weekends) to pay the bills, and now the family that takes luxurious trips to San Diego, Hawaii, Disney World, and North Carolina, a sprawling million dollar estate, cosmetic changes including teeth whitening, hair plugs, and Kate’s very obvious recent tanning, and yet they seem much less happy on the show now than they did in the beginning. Kate spends more time talking to others about being a mom than actually being one, and Jon drowns his sorrows at the local bar.
Only time will tell if this is the beginning of the end of Jon and Kate plus Eight.
