The online multiplayer mode for Killzone 2 has seven classes you can play. Six of them need to be unlocked first. While each class has its own unique abilities, they are not equal as some are overwhelmingly stronger than the others. Let’s rank all seven classes of Killzone 2.
You start off as a rifleman if you are playing the online multiplayer for Killzone 2 for the first time. Aside from the wide range of weapons he can carry, the rifleman has no special abilities whatsoever. You will want to level up as fast as possible in Killzone 2 since this class won’t be of any help to you or your team.
The medic seems like a great class at first since he can heal and revive teammates. However, these abilities are hindered by the fact that the gun used to revive others takes awhile to recharge. Not to mention that you can’t revive team mates that died because of a headshot or explosion. Healing is also somewhat hindered by the fact that everyone can regenerate their health in Killzone 2.
Just like the medic, the engineer sound promising at first with its ability to set up a turret. In reality, these weapons are somewhat useless as they won’t kill an enemy unless he is already injured. Therefore, you need to place them in the right situation in order to maximize your success rate. Unlike the medic class, the engineer’s secondary ability is quite useful as it can repair StA3 fixed gun emplacements and ammunition dispensers.
You probably won’t find a better support class in Killzone 2 than the tactician. This is because he can set up alternative spawn points anywhere on the map. With the right placement, the tactician can quickly change the tides of a battle. So while his air support ability is a little too weak, his primary ability more than makes up for it.
The saboteur is your thinking man’s class of Killzone 2. Using him, you can disguise yourself as the enemy. They wouldn’t be able to tell the difference unless you shoot them or when you get hurt. This makes infiltrating the enemy a whole lot easier. Not to mention that you can also use the saboteur to throw C4 at the enemy to cause even more chaos.
The scout is probably the only way you can get a perfect game (zero deaths) in Killzone 2. This is because he can use his cloak ability and become invisible for a short period of time. The cloaking effect will need to be recharged once you shoot; in addition, the effects will ware off depending on how intense your movements are. Despite being primarily a sniper, the scout can also be a team player by using his spot & mark ability to reveal the locations of enemies from your point of view onto your teammates’ radars.
The assault class in Killzone 2 is so good that many people are banning it from their games. Not only does he have twice as much health as everyone else, he can also carry a grenade or missile launcher. Not to mention that he can boost his speed to run faster than anyone else. Needless to say, the assault class is a force to reckon and a nightmare to deal with. Thus, many players decided that they won’t even allow it in their games at all due to the assault class overpowering nature.
