The medic is the first specialized class you will unlock in the online multiplayer mode of Killzone 2. This is also the point where the gameplay shifts significantly into a more team based approach. Here is a guide to help you utilize the medic class in Killzone 2 to its fullest potential.
Primary Badge: Master Sergeant
In order to unlock the medic class, you need to accumulate 350 total points in the online multiplayer mode of Killzone 2.
Main Weapons: M82 Assault Rifle and STA52 Assault Rifle
Medics can carry two weapons when they spawned. The M82 Assault Rifle is great of big open maps while the STA52 Assault Rifle more suitable for smaller maps filled with hallways.
First Ability: Revive
The default ability for the medic is revival. He can revive the mortally wounded with his defibrillator gun, which can be equipped by pressing the left directional button. Once you revive a teammate, the specialized gun needs about 20 seconds to recharge.
Secondary Badge: Trauma Surgeon
You must acquire 8 Revival Specialist ribbons in order to earn the secondary badge for the medic and unlock its secondary ability. You earn one ribbon by reviving 5 teammates in one round of the online multiplayer mode of Killzone 2.
Secondary Ability: Health Packs
The medic’s secondary ability allows him to throw health packs on the ground. To equip, you need to press the right directional button. You can only throw one pack every 10 seconds. Furthermore, only two health packs thrown by you are allowed to be on the battlefield simultaneously.
Combinable Secondary Badge: Field Medic
To earn the ability to combine the medic class with another one, you will need 8 Healing Specialist ribbons. You earn this ribbon by using the health packs to heal your teammates five times in one round.
As the medic in Killzone 2, you should always stay behind your teammates. Doing so will give you the time and space needed in order to access the situation. So when one of your teammates is mortally wounded or in need of health, you can instantly identify and help him. When reviving, always make sure the coast is clear by taking out any enemies in the near distance first.
The revive ability is especially helpful in assassination mode of Killzone 2’s online multiplayer since you can revive the target from being mortally wounded and save your team from a loss. The medic is also great for ranking up as you get one point for every revival. So revive your teammates early and often.
The medic can’t revive teammates that got killed via headshots or explosions. So it is best to aim high and use grenades when you see a medic unit among the enemy. You can also simply shoot the downed enemy to finish him off.
Hopefully, these tips will help you use the medic class effectively in Killzone 2.
