He had one of two options he could take a shot now and try and kill them or wait and see if they provided better targets. Typically once a cell moved it had a specific agenda, they probably had either demands or wanted media present so their deaths and their victims would be would be public. Since it didn’t appear to be a butcher scenario where the attack was simply meant to kill as quickly as possible before authorities arrived and ended the attack clearly they had the former in mind.
So he brought the Cheytac into his shoulder and began to examine the scene for the best shot opportunity. The terrorists moved quickly along the southern service entrance and paused when the came to the door that separated them from the pavilion area. They uncovered the device and began to make final adjustments and connections to it. That was a fatal mistake.
The first shot took the first terrorist along the right eye approximately a quarter inch from the temple the .408 went thru the socket and exited the back of the skull and into the concrete wall behind the head. The only sound was the meaty smack of the bullet passing thru the mans brain.
The second shot hit the man square in the bridge of the nose mushrooming slightly as it blew a hole in the back of the skull the size of an orange this round passed thru the concrete wall and into the floor of the adjoining room.
ABD-AL-HAMID had been kneeling attaching the makeshift trigger to the bomb when the first shot was fired, he saw his brother in arms crumple like a puppet whose strings had been cut. Why hadn’t he heard anything? He need to move but he was frozen for a moment that seemed to play on forever when the second shot struck the man standing just above and next to him. No sound, Allah protect him it was a sniper no telling how far away he was.
It could not end like this, he hadn’t finished connecting the trigger he couldn’t detonate the bomb. He could not allow his life’s work to end like this without the glory he had dreamed of for so long. He scanned the area where was he? How did he know they would be here? All of these questions would go unanswered. His body began to move of its own violation but to late, the round struck him in the side of head, the exit wound the round made took most of the opposite side of the head with it.
The assassin had taken all three targets cleanly now he needed to take out the fourth. This interruption had pushed him ahead of his schedule it was three minutes before Caerone was due to speak. He had to isolate and eliminate quickly before the bodies were discovered. He had little concern about the sound of his rifle the suppressor he was using was his own and at this distance it would be totally silent in fact at 100 yards it was barely audible.
He scanned the pavilion he identified Caerone who was still sitting at his table this shot angle wasn’t acceptable the round would kill the woman sitting behind him. He waited knowing the bodies would be discovered in moments. As Caerone stood he took the shot, landing just above the left eye it evacuated most of the left side of his brain out of the exit wound spraying blood over a fifteen foot area, the round landed in the ground 40 yards behind the now dead Caerone.
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast in practiced and sure motions he broke his sniper perch down and quickly slide down the rope to the ground a quick release jerk on the dangling item and it fell to the ground, he slide this into his bag and headed toward the beachside wall.
Minutes later he approached his car, he placed the bag in the trunk and as he entered the driver side door he heard distant sirens. He smiled they were headed away from him.
