Mary Tillman, mother of Pat Tillman, an Army Ranger who previously played in the NFL for the Arizona Cardinals, wants the public to know that the government lied to her family about the cause of Pat Tillman’s death. He died on April 22, 2004. The family was told he was killed in an enemy ambush. It was later disclosed that the military knew that same day that friendly fire was the cause of the death; however, the family was not told that for five weeks.
Mrs. Tillman believes Lt. Gen. Stanley McChrystal misled the American public when awarding the Silver Star medal to Pat Tillman due to his being cut down by “devastating enemy fire” according to AOL news. McChrystal then warned President Bush of the true nature of the friendly fire death in a secret memo that was later obtained by the AP.
AOL news states that “The Pentagon recommended last year that McChrystal be held accountable for misleading actions, but the Army overruled the recommendation.”
Now, as Lt. Gen. Stanley McChrystal is possibly about to be the leader of America’s military in Afghanistan, Pat Tillman Sr. is expressing his alarm about this possible promotion. The Huffington Post reports that Pat Tillman Sr. stated: ” I do believe that guy participated in a falsified homicide investigation” according to the Huffington Post.
McChrystal’s awaits confirmation by the Senate for this promotion to lead the military in Afghanistan. Call your Senators now to encourage them to vote “NO” for the promotion of Lt. Gen. Stanley McChrystal to lead the military in Afghanistan.
Our nation’s security rides on success in the fight against terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan. It is too crucial to America’s security to allow McChrystal to lead troops when he has already shown an inclination to fudge the truth in times of crisis. How many more parents of the troops serving America will be lied to if McChrystal is in charge?
Pat Tillman’s mother, Mary Tillman, has written a book about the struggle to obtain truthful information about the events involved in the death of their son. Her book, “Boots on the Ground by Dusk: My Tribute to Pat Tillman is a book every American should read.
Our government and our Army have led the public away from the truth in the investigation of Pat Tillman’s murder and on so many other important issues. One cannot fix the problem until one realizes how pervasive cover ups of the truth have been in the American military.
