The Double Cheeseburger vs. McDouble Battle Round #1: The Burger Basics
McDonald’s Double Cheeseburger and the McDouble are almost the exact same burger; both burgers have two patties, pickles, onions, ketchup and cheese. The only difference between the McDouble and the Double Cheeseburger is that the double cheeseburger has two slices of cheese and the McDouble only has one.
The Double Cheeseburger vs. McDouble Battle Round #2: Taste
With two slices of cheese McDonald’s Double Cheeseburger is definitely cheesier than their McDouble, but is cheesier better? The McDouble’s one slice of cheese doesn’t overwhelm the entire burger allowing you to taste the meat and condiments better. However, if you are a cheese lover you may prefer the Double Cheeseburger’s extremely cheesy flavor.
The Double Cheeseburger vs. McDouble Battle Round #3: Cost
It is quite obvious the reason McDonalds introduced the McDouble was to give them the ability to raise the price of the Double Cheeseburger without eliminating their dollar menu burger.
The Double Cheeseburger is now priced at $1.19. This is 19 cents more than its long standing previous price of $1.00. To add a slice of cheese to a sandwich at McDonalds is normally 30 cents so McDonald’s is giving consumers a bit of a break.
The McDouble is priced at $1.00. One dollar seems to be the magic number for fast food chains. Personally, I love to stick to the dollar menu so saving myself 19 cents could make me order the McDouble.
The Double Cheeseburger vs. McDouble Battle Round #4: Nutrition
McDonalds has been criticized for its unhealthy menu choices, so most consumers know that ordering a double burger from them is not the healthiest choice. However, there are some nutritional advantages and disadvantages when comparing a Double Cheeseburger to a McDouble.
The Double Cheeseburger has 440 calories and 23 grams of fat. The McDouble has 390 calories and 19 grams of fat. Alternatively, the Double Cheeseburger has slightly more calcium and vitamin A than the McDouble because of the extra slice of cheese.
The Double Cheeseburger vs. McDouble Battle Round #5: The Winner
In the battle of the Double Cheeseburger vs. the McDouble there is no clear cut winner. For traditionalists who love cheese the 19 cents extra cost is well worth it. However, if you aren’t a big fan of cheese and want to save a few calories and cents, go for the McDouble.
