Being the most anticipated holiday of the year, summer fun is foolproof with lots of harmonious compositions fit for every mood. Hot Summer Music – Album 1: Distant Relatives
A collaboration of veteran rapper Nas and reggae superstar Damian “Junior Gong” Marley, Distant Relatives is set to hit the streets in June 2009, early enough to build the summer momentum. Damian, more popular known for his Grammy winning Welcome to Jamrock album, and Nas, recognized among MTV’s Top Ten Greatest Emcees of All Times, are sure to appease die-hard fans with their new release which is slewed with songs embracing their African Ancestry. Distant Relatives is also an altruistic effort as part proceeds to the building of an African school.
Hot Summer Music – Album 2: Rebirth
Another June premier is multi-platinum rapper Lil Wayne’s album titled Rebirth. The anticipation surrounding this release is due to reports that this is Lil Wayne’s rock debut. Rebirth also features the popular rap styles of the artiste, and collaboration with Grammy nominated Pop Punk band Fallout Boy.
Hot Summer Music – Album 3: The E.N.D
American hip-hop group Black Eyed Peas (BEP) ends our June releases with new album The E.N.D. short for ‘The Energy Never Dies’. BEP principal will.i.am described the music as “melodic, electronic and soulful”. The single Boom Boom Pow which is one of the songs on the album has already reached number one on the Billboards’ Hot 100 chart. With past hits such as ‘Hey Mama’, ‘Where is the Love’ and NBA commercial anthem ‘Lets Get it Started’ BEP is sure to blow up this summer!
Hot Summer Music – Album 4: TBA
The secrecy surrounding multi-platinum reggae artiste Sean Paul’s latest album is enough to send our curiosity through the roof. What has been confirmed is that the album is set to be released this summer; however the album’s title and speculated collaborations are sealed on the lips of manager Jeremy Harding. The superstar’s management team is fearful of bootlegs materializing before the album debuts and therefore refuses to disclose any information that could be harmful to its undoubted success.
Hot Summer Music – Album 5: Leave This Town
American rock band Daughtry are set to release their album Leave This Town in July 2009. The group’s lead singer Chris Daughtry of American Idol Fame, summarized the album in this statement: “A lot of it is about how leaps of faith can set us free or tie us down, and how we often find heartache when we run from something and redemption when we run toward something”. The album’s single No Surprise was well received when it debuted on American Idol’s May 3rd show.
