Choosing a shampoo that will work for my fine, thin hair can be a challenge. I go through a bottle of shampoo a month in our household, and get to try out many different brands. Some I like more than others, but my most recent brand of shampoo I have been quite happy with. It is made by Aveeno.
This one was new to me, and it is Aveeno’s Active Naturals Shampoo. They make this shampoo for several different hair types: Nourish & Moisturize for dry hair; Nourish & Revitalize for damaged hair; Nourish & Soothe for itchy, dry scalp; and the version I have, which is Nourish & Volumize for adding body.
Aveeon Active Naturals Shampoo Nourish & Volumize Shampoo comes in a tall beige colored plastic bottle, with a picture of wheat stalks on the left side. It reads With nourishing wheat complex and blue lotus flower.
It claims to strength and add body to fine and limp hair, and has an easy flip top cap for easy of dispensing in the shower when the hands are wet.
Product Claims (Taken from bottle)
Aveeno Nourish & Volume Shampoo claims to do more than clean and volumize the hair, it claims to create abundance ith a fusion of light weight conditioners, giving hair lush, rich life.
Studies have shown that only three washings with Aveeno Nourish & Volume Shampoo add strength, softness and shine to the hair.
Using Aveeno Active Naturals Nourish & Volumize Shampoo was a pleasure! The product comes out of the bottle thick, and has a opal, pearlized appearance. The scent is light and sweet and pleasant. In some ways it reminds me of a bar of Ivory soap, but there is no noticeable scent after my hair has been dried and styled. It lathers up amazingly well, and is easy to massage this into my scalp. I always find that giving my head a good massage during my hair washing results in a cleaner looking head of hair when it is dried and styled. (The directions also say to “lather with a gentle massaging motion”).
Although the shampoo gave me a ton of lather, (I learned not to use quite so much after the first washing), it rinses off easily and cleanly, leaving my hair feeling clean, but not with that “squeaky clean” feeling that sometimes makes hair feel like it has been stripped of it’s natural oils.
After my hair was dried with my blow dryer, I didn’t notice that it was any fuller than usual, but what I did notice was that my hair was very shiny. My hair had chemical highlights added to it several months ago, and they are staring to be much less noticeable, but this shampoo really did bring out my hairs natural blonde highlights! I was jazzed about that! I am wondering if the ingredient “mica” is partially responsible for this? Mica brings things to their natural vibrant look, so it very well may be.
The wheat complex feeds the hair, replenishing moisture and adding strength to the hair shaft. I used the matching Aveeno Active Naturals Conditioner, so I can’t really say if the shampoo itself added any moisture or not.
But I can say I was pleasantly surprised to get the results that I did, which was that the shampoo brought out my dirty blond hair colors natural blonde highlights. I would buy this shampoo for that benefit alone! I have used henna shampoo that claim to do this, and have always been disappointed in the job they have done for me, but now I have a shampoo that does this, and it’s not even one of the claims that Aveeno makes!

Aveeno has been making a wide variety of skincare products for almost sixty years, and I love their new Active Naturals line of shampoo! I am a gal who often spends big bucks on salon brands, but the Aveeno Active Naturals Nourish & Volumize may be right up there with these as far as performance goes. I give this shampoo two thumbs up.
