I have literally tried just about every moisturizer on the market. I’ve tried drugstore brands and high end brands. I would consider my skin combination. My nose and forehead tend to be oily, while my cheeks are sometimes dry. Also, I have sensitive skin prone to breakouts.
Recently, I came across Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture for combination skin online. I thought it sounded perfect for me. I had experimented with some other moisturizers over the past few weeks and my face was not looking good.
I was able to order it online for under $10.00, which to me is a very reasonable price. Especially compared to some of the high end moisturizers I have tried. I figured it was worth a shot. My only concern was that I have tried a few other Neutrogena moisturizers that I didn’t care for, but those weren’t specifically formulated for my skin type.
When it arrived, I liked the fact that it is a lotion that comes in a bottle with a pump on top. The pump can be turned to a closed position so that it doesn’t leak out. This is a really nice feature. The bottle is 4 FL OZ (118 mL).
I was excited to try it. At this point, I had two red patches on my nose and a few other blemishes. I applied this moisturizer and I noticed how light it was. It was not greasy at all. Also, it is fragrance free which is a big plus for me since moisturizers that smell too strong tend to make my eyes burn.
After I had applied it , I put some concealer on the red patches on my nose. I was able to blend the concealer in well. By the time I had finished applying my eye makeup, I noticed that the moisturizer was already absorbed! My face felt smooth and didn’t look shiny at all. I was able to apply my powder foundation easily. My face looked and felt good.
After a few days of using this moisturizer, my skin began to look a lot better. It hasn’t caused any breakouts or irritation. I like how it is not greasy or sticky when applied and it works well under makeup. I have noticed, however, that my cheeks sometimes feel a little dry in spots, but I just add a little extra to those spots. If you have dry skin, this might not be moisturizing enough for you.
One thing to note is that during the day I do have to pat some excess oil off of my nose and forehead. This doesn’t bother me though because I know that is going to happen with any moisturizer I use. Plus, I’ve really only had to blot the oily areas once a day as compared to several times a day with other products I’ve tried.
In my experience with Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture for combination skin, I feel it is a decent overall moisturizer that I will continue to use. However, since this moisturizer doesn’t contain any spf, I might only use this at night and try to find something with an spf to use during the day.
