This week, Scott Levenson — the national spokesperson for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) — told Glenn Beck he was afraid of black people after a heated interview on the Glenn Beck show for FoxNews. When Scott Leverson could not produce facts to back up his defense of the allegations of election fraud, Levenson dealt the race card. He then proceeded to make a clumsy pass at one of the show’s producers, and then left a voice message asking her to give him a call the next day. Sad to say, I know how Glenn feels when a democrat or far-leftist can’t win the argument.
When Jimmy Carter was President, I did not like his policies, but no one called me a racist. When Bill Clinton was President, I did not like his policies, but no one called me a racist. Now that Barak Obama is President and I do not like his policies, I am labeled a racist. Talk about being unfair. Is this all the democrats have to throw at me? You’re a racist! When all else fails, when you can’t back-up the reasoning behind what the current administration is doing, you resort to slanderous name-calling?
Some recent conversations I have had left me perplexed and a little scared at what people are thinking. I am scared that there are people that do not know their history, do not read current events or misconstrue what they do read, do not know their own religion, and do not understand today’s laws or government. During a debatable conversation on unemployment, social security, taxes, pro-life, and multiple other subjects here are what some people believe: (My responses are in brackets.)
Social Security and unemployment are not social programs. (I explained how Social Security and unemployment started during the Depression. What do you think the ‘Social’ in Social Security means? Read U.S. history and you will see that these are social programs.)
Elderly won’t need money in the future because the government will take care of them. (I did a double take on this one myself. I explained how the elderly are taken care of now by receiving Social Security, a government (taxpayer funded) program.)
I don’t know when life begins. I would “guess”, before there is a heartbeat. I would say at six weeks. (I explained that a heartbeat can be detected at six weeks, and as a Catholic, the Church believes life begins at conception.)
All news people who speak out against Obama are radicals and glory hunters. (So, reporters who agree with everything the Obama administration does is not in it for the glory and fame? They don’t want to be top-notch newscasters? They don’t want viewers to tune in, to listen to their programs?)
Our taxes won’t go up, and our children and grandchildren won’t have to pay the stimulus debt, Obama will. (So, Obama is going to reach in his pocket and take out several trillion dollars of his own money?)
Well, at least unemployment is down. Obama is creating new jobs and getting people working again. (There are 5 million people on unemployment and over 2 million of those have been since the first of the year, not to mention those that were unemployed before all this mess started.)
Obama is sending troops to the border. The fence along the Mexican border will keep out the immigrants. (No, there is only a partial fence. It is not complete.) It is all the way across the border, the immigrants can’t get in. (There is no fence all the way along the border, and they can and do get in this country.)
Do you like Obama? Do you like his wife? (I don’t like Obama’s policies. I don’t know much about Mrs. Obama, so I can’t say one way or the other.) You’re just a racist. (When you can’t win the hand, deal the racist card.)
These discussions are with supposedly “educated” people. SEE why I’m scared.
