Swaptree is a barter Web site like many others. People can trade books, DVDs, CDs and games. I joined Swaptree a couple of years ago in addition to bookmooch. They are both really nice sites.
Joining the Swaptree.com does not take long. It takes about 5 seconds. It is a free site. It really is free. You would probably think you would have to pay postage. You do not have to do that either, the site gives you a mailing label so all you have to do is give it to the postal worker. They find trades for you all you do is post the items that you want to get rid of on to the site by the ISBN or UPC (this is located on the back of the item(s).
Here’s my review of Swaptree. It is very detailed site and easy to navigate. The site lists items I want, items I have and my trades. They have a help center if anything seems complicated. They have a community, where they have groups, discussions and an invite a friend application.
There are other sites that are similar to this one, such as bookmooch.
Bookmooch.com is a trading site for books. This site is of lower grade. It simple to join just like Swaptree. The con to this site is it is only for books. On this site, you post books you have and what the books you want. It is based on a point system, you have to give just as many books as you receive. Another con is you have to pay for postage. On the plus side, a fellow bookmoocher will send you an email if they want a book from you. You can also give you points away to a charity but you have to have a least one point. This site is just as simple as Swaptree. There is less items because they focus only on books. Another site is Freecycle.org.
Freecycle.org is little more difficult to join than the others. There is a long wait but the site broken down based on region; it is not as clear cut as Swaptree or Bookmooch. You have to join the local group in order to see the postings. After you join the group you have login to you yahoo account. After you login you have to wait to be approved by the moderator. Before you can click join you have to tell the group owner about yourself and why you would like to join the group. You seem to have to jump through hurdles to get on the site. I feel like only a desperate trader would join this site. It does not seem worth it if there are so many easier site to join. Another site is BarterBee.com.
BarterBee.com is a site were you can trade cds, dvds, and games. This is also based on a point system. Each point is worth a dollar. You set the point value of what you are selling. It is free to join. It is safer because there is no money exchange. There is free shipping, insurance, and no-hassle return. It is no a completely free system since you can buy points.
Out of all the sites I think Swaptree is the best. It offers more items to buy and easy to sign up. If you want more information you can go to the respective website.
