You are getting ready for that big date and your hair is damaged from a recent perm and you decide to deep condition it. You go for the bottle of your favorite conditioner only to find the cat the knocked the bottle into the tub and the contents flowed down the drain. Don’t make a mad dash to the store, you can look in your refrigerator and find some really excellent hair conditioners.
Hair conditioner all worked the same. You hair is made up of the protein Keratin. The conditioner simply has ingredients that have a positive charge on the amnion acids in your hair and changes it outward appearance. The goal of shampoo is to remove dirt. Sometimes in the process’s shampoos strips the hair of good natural oils. Chemical treatments on the hair and sun exposure also deplete the hair of natural oils leaving it damaged and dry . A good conditioner puts some of the good oils or moisture back and a least temporarily improve the outward appearance of hair.
Conditioner all did the same thing but to different degrees . All conditioners will soften your hair , but the most effective will actually smooth your split ends and add moisture that will last more than one shampoo. You also want a conditioner that would not add too much oil to your hair leaving it flat and inclined to attract dirt. Finding the right homemade conditioner for your hair is about a trial and error journey. Still you’re not committing yourself to a twenty dollar, a bottle specialty conditioner that you cannot try before you buy, so have some fun and experiment a little in your kitchen.
Banana and Honey: This homemade hair conditioner is great for oily hair and fine hair . It conditions and actually gives you hair strands a plumped appearance. The effects of this homemade conditioner does not out last two shampoos. You will need to repeat it often to get the same effect . Take one banana and run it through the blender . You can add a little water till you get the consistency of banana mash you feel most comfortable working with. When you have reached the level of mash you want add a fourth of a cup of honey and blend well. You take your banana and honey paste and leave it on your hair for about twenty minutes. You should rinse thoroughly with warm water to remove the paste when you are done conditioning.
Egg and Mayo: This homemade conditioner is for dry and damaged hair and not for oily or normal hair. It could be repeated up to three times a week to help ‘fix” really damaged hair.
Take one egg and mix it with one fourth a cup of mayonnaise. Blend the egg and mayonnaise well and then add one eight a cup of olive oil. Take your mixture and comb it through you wet hair making sure you cover your split ends. Put on a shower cap and take your salad head and go watch TV. The longer you leave on this conditioner the better the results on damage hair. Your may have to rinse a couple of times to remove the excess oil out of your hair when you are done conditioning.
Olive Oil and Lemon Juice :The conditioner works great on normal hair or dull hair that has a residue build on it. It really aims to boost the shine on dull hair You need one tablespoon of lemon juice, two table spoons of apple cider vinegar, and 1/8 a cup of olive oil, and one egg . The egg is mostly in the formula to provide the gooey base for the rest of the ingredients. I have mixed this formula with a cheaper commercial finishing rinse and gotten good results. You want to avoid heavily oiled bases for this formula. Excess oils will dull and not shine your hair. Take your mixture and leave it on your hair for about twenty minutes . To boost really your shine use a little of the apple cider vinegar to rinse your hair in when you are done conditioning. Rinsing your hair in vinegar and lemon juice would also make this a fine conditioning process for oily hair.
You should note that amounts of ingredients are based on my hair. If you have longer or shorter hair you may need to experiment a little. This is true for number of ingredients and desired effects as well. In general more heavy oil for really dry hair and less heavily oil for oily hair is the logical rule to follow when experimenting with homemade conditioner. If you overdo it find some Prell shampoo it will remove anything from your hair. If you make a homemade conditioner that does not work on your hair consider using it on your salad at lunch.
