Margie was an impressionable senior with dreams of a 30 year old lady. Jonathan held her heart and they both knew that fact so well. The oddity of it all is that neither of them cared what the future would do to them. Each focused on their lives and pretended not to pay much attention to the tomorrows that would greatly influence them as a couple and as individuals.
Jonathan was 8 years Margie’s senior, however stately, almost regal looking from Margie’s Irish, green eyes. He did 50 push ups and walked a mile a day to maintain his narcissist structure, which he personally admired when he thought no one was watching. Oh, now the cat is out of the bag when the one “N” word was used, isn’t it? Let me continue to tell you, despite that fact that has surfaced.
No matter how Jonathan tried, he could not shake the narcissism the had natured for 50 years or more. That is not saying that he even tried to alter the characteristics of this behavior. Yes, Jonathan was 72 with a pretty good looking physique for those years. While the inside was more than sprinkled with 3 or 4 tall glasses of hard liquor on a daily basis, the outer body did not seem to suffer much. Many significant women had come and gone, for reasons only Jonathan knew to be true or not. Stories from him exonerated him from any wrong doing, making the women seem witch-like from his mouth. Margie, of course heard the words and observed the face that was shown to her and believed every word that touched her gentle, caring ears. Nothing Margie did was monumental in comparison to what Jonathan accomplished. He was a pro at pulling the focus on himself, his accomplishments and down playing everyone and everything else. Not much mattered to Jonathan except Jonathan. Margie thought the world of him, so he did not have to try very hard to win her over to his narcissist point of view.
Margie and Jonathan met by chance seemingly to like each other’s looks and ways early. Jonathan had been single for 5 months, so he stated to Margie when they met. She had been single for 2 years. Both had been married before and truly neither wanted or needed marriage for any solidity in their lives. Only Margie verbalized wanting an exclusive relationship after a month of knowing each other. Jonathan seemed to be going with the flow and not stating that was his desire or not. Margie did not know there was a pin the balloon of this relationship, causing air to escape at record speed. Maybe Margie pretended to hear Jonathan wanted what she wanted. Jonathan pretended he did not need to commit to Margie or HER thoughts and requirements.
Six weeks into them meeting, Jonathan sent an email to Margie that was intended for some other female. OOPS, Jonathan, you blew it big time! Oddly enough, Jonathan called Margie on the phone, without admitting any wrong doing or apology, popping back in her life as if nothing happened. Grant you, Jonathan waited 6 weeks before he made that call. Margie, once again, solidified an exclusive relationship to which Jonathan renewed his stance on that issue as before. As it is widely known, the saying of “Let the Games Begin”, was exactly what happened.
