Celebrity Hairstyles for summer: Number One
The top hairstyle goes to Halle Berry and her new bob cut. Cutting inches from her long locks, Halle shortens up for summer and even added some warm blonde highlights as well, her nod to that old cliché that blondes really do have more fun. Berry’s new bob puts simple back in summer, so she gets top honors for encouraging new moms to simplify their beauty time, even if trips to the salon are needed for frequent trims and highlights.
Celebrity Hairstyles for summer: Number Two
Beyonce takes second spot for her hair change as well. While she didn’t change her length or style, still sporting her long tresses, she did take a drastic step for girls who favor straight hair: she got a perm (or one of those temporary perms). Curly hair changes her overall appearance by making her look even more feminine, as well as adding a little more fullness to her hair, inspiring all of us to be more girly.
Celebrity Hairstyles for summer: Number Three
Marlee Matlin’s new shoulder-length layered look, with blonde highlights, looks neat and professional. I like it because it’s an ‘off-duty feminine meets workplace professional’ kind of look, and Matlin carries it off well. Upkeep is nothing more than proper blow-drying techniques, a good body wave or body-building hair care product, and highlight maintenance.
Celebrity Hairstyles for summer: Number Four
Victoria Beckham’s sleek bob is definitely on my list. This is ‘no fuss’ at its glamorous best and Beckham carries it off so well. The reason I favor this style is you can choose to wash and run, letting your au natural side reign, or you can play with it a little and throw in a little taffy hair care products to sleek it up for a more sophisticated look.
Celebrity Hairstyles for summer: Number Five
Remember famous supermodel Christie Brinkley? Well, her summer all blonde look may now be gracing an over-40 woman, but I’d still take it for my summer ‘do’. Her shoulder-length and layered cut requires nothing more than a couple of turns with the curling iron and some nourishing shampoos and conditioners. Hairspray not needed.
Celebrity Hairstyles for summer: Number Six
Jada Pinkett’s new longer hair style, with soft cascading curls down the back and a sleek smooth middle-part, is made even more flattering on the petite star by the deep ebony color of it. I put it on my list because the combination of the color and the curls remind me of Gone With the Wind and Scarlette O’hara’s locks.
Celebrity Hairstyles for summer: Number Seven
Charlize Theron makes the list for her shoulder-length cut. Other than long bangs, this is simply a blunt cut with absolutely no work to it, unless you want to imitate Charlize’s same blonde coloring.
Celebrity Hairstyles for summer: Number Eight
Parker Posey’s pixie cut had to make my list just for its sheer simplicity and ease on the budget. Who doesn’t want a cut with: no color, no combing, and no real care. Sometimes a girl doesn’t have the time to work their look, especially in the heat of the summer when trips to the pool for a cooling off dip are as common as the bills in the mailbox. And the real beauty to this style is it won’t break your bank ’cause you don’t even have to pay for hair color, gels, curling irons or hairspray for this look.
Celebrity Hairstyles for summer: Number Nine
When childcare is an uncommon but new daily activity, go with a bob. Katie Holmes’ sleek bob is just long enough to throw behind the ears, so she doesn’t have to sacrifice that tomboy spirit, but it’s also short enough to carry off an elegant sleeked back look too. I like Holmes’ bob because it has the side part and hangs chin-length. Choosing not to change her hair color helps reduce time at the salon too.
Celebrity Hairstyles for summer: Number Ten
Reba McEntire’s middle-length layered locks; with its awesome red coloring, is another style that makes my list. This length is easily swept up in a pony tail if need be during the summer and the layering in this style allows for wonderful ‘up do’ opportunities for nights out on the town.
