Sales for the Nintendo Wii have been at an all-time historical high. Its reputation, especially among the hardcore games, has never been so low, however. Therefore, E3 2009 is going to be an important step for Nintendo to rebuild its image to the gaming community. They could start the process by showcasing some of the more hotly anticipated games for the system. Here are the top five most hyped Nintendo Wii games at E3 2009.
5. Japanese Games
While Japanese companies have their own event in Japan, E3 2009 is still an important place for them to reach out to the western audience. Some of the best games released so far in Japan should be at the show including Fragile, Murasama: The Demon Blade and hopefully Fatal Frame IV. Moreover, games still in development like Monster Hunter 3 and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers can also help boost the Nintendo Wii’s lineup at E3 2009.
4. Red Steel 2
Publisher: Ubisoft, Developer: Ubisoft, Release Date: Late 2009
Red Steel was the first third-party game revealed for the Nintendo Wii. As a result, the launch title sold moderately well. The highly anticipated sequel took three long years in development in order to ensure that it will be better than the mediocre first title in just about every way possible. Red Steel 2 will also be using the Wii MotionPlus accessory, so don’t be surprise if this Nintendo Wii title blows you away at E3 2009.
3. Sin and Punishment 2
Publisher: Nintendo, Developer: Treasure, Release Date: Unknown
Sin and Punishment was one of the first import titles on the Nintendo Wii’s Virtual Console. The mix of intense platforming and on-rails shooting returns to the system once again with the sequel. Although details are scarce at this point, Sin and Punishment 2 is visually stunning and will put the player in some really epic situations. Hopefully, a big reveal will happen in E3 2009 for this great looking Nintendo Wii game.
2. Pikmin 3
Publisher: Nintendo, Developer: Nintendo, Release Date: Unknown
Ironically, Pikmin 3 was revealed at E3 2008, which was generally considered to be Nintendo’s worst showing at the event yet. With the first two Pikmin games already ported to the Nintendo Wii and have proven that the motion controls work well, Pikmin 3 has all the potential in the world to become a premier title. It will easily be one of the biggest games at E3 2009 if Nintendo chooses to unveil it to the public during the event.
1. No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle
Publisher: XSeed Games, Developer: Grasshopper Manufacture, Release Date: 2010
The original No More Heroes was the first truly excellent mature-rated game for the Nintendo Wii. That alone makes No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle one of the most anticipated games on the system. So while not much is known, the sequel to the amazing first title will no doubt please many spectators at E3 2009. With one of the most underrated developers in the industry behind the game, No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle has no chance at disappointing.
