A couple of weeks ago I became obsessed with the Dr. Andrew Weil’s Pure Fruit and Nut Bars. Instead of being dried out and tasteless I found these snack bars to be quite delicious. After trying the Goji Berry and Banana Manna Bars I decided to try the equally silly sounding Chocolada Walnut Bar.
The Weil by Nature’s Path Organic Chocolada Walnut bar costs $2 for a 1.6oz bar and contains organic dates, organic almonds, organic dried unsweetened coconut, organic walnuts, organic natural cocoa, and organic vanilla extract.
It has 190 calories, 90 of which are from fat. It contains 10g of fat, 4g of saturated fat, 0g of cholesterol, 0g of sodium, 24g of carbohydrates, 5g of fiber, 17g of sugar and 3g of protein. It also contains 10% of the daily value of iron and 4% of calcium.
The Chocolada Walnut Bar obviously tastes like chocolate. It’s the most predominant flavor of this Pure Fruit and Nut Bar, even though it’s one of the last ingredients. After the chocolate flavor was detected I also began to taste the sweet coconut, the dry nutty flavor of the almonds and walnuts, and the mild taste of vanilla combining on my taste buds.
Even though the Chocolada Walnut Pure Fruit and Nut Bar tastes a lot like chocolate it’s not a chocolate bar. It’s not coated with milk chocolate or anything so it resembles the other Weil Fruit bars which look like brown soft blended fruits molded into a bar.
I used to be a really big fan of chocolate, but lately I haven’t been craving it that much, so for that reason the Chocolada Walnut Bar isn’t my favorite Weil By Nature’s Path Bar. However the Chocolada Walnut Bar is still quite delicious. With all of its flavors it really reminded me of a Almond Joy Candy Bar which I find quite enjoyable. The only difference is that it’s much more moist, the cocoa in the Weil bar is more bitter, and the flavors are fresher and more vibrant.
It also is much healthier than an Almond Joy and the Chocolada Walnut bar is one of the few ways I’ve found to really satisfy that a craving for chocolate and rich flavors without having overloading your body with sugar and artificial ingredients.
Because it tastes more like chocolate rather than a fruit bar, The Weil by Nature’s Path Organic Chocolada Walnut Bar, isn’t one of those bars I’d eat every day. Because it has such a strong chocolate and coconut flavor I would only eat this bar once ever week or so when I really want chocolate. I recommend it for people who really love chocolate but are looking for a healthier alternative. With all of the great strong flavors I think it tastes a lot better than candy bars and it really hits that sweet spot. 5 out of 5 stars.
